How to Make the Switch From Toxic to Clean
If you're anything like me, you're constantly getting bombarded by the latest social media posts, blog posts, and pinterest articles about clean products, clean eating, clean living ...
It can get rather overwhelming. The $ start adding up quickly as you scroll. Grass fed, pasture raised, hormone-free, non-gmo, sprouted, organic ... the list goes on.
So how do you approach a cleaner lifestyle if this is all new? You are facing a health crisis at home, asking questions about how to raise your kids better, or hearing all the tips and tricks from your growing circle of friends.
Here's an idea. Start with the product that you ran out of today. And every time something runs out, find a cleaner or better version (even if it's just a step in the right direction) to replace it with.
Here's another thought. Purchase items from small businesses that make cleaner versions, or from your local dairy and meat farms when possible. Choose something this week that you can afford to "splurge" on even if it's hard to eat that all the time. Get pasture raised eggs this week, and grassfed beef next week.
It's the small and consistent efforts that add up.
In the meantime, start gradually cutting out toxic things like dyes, "natural" and artificial flavors, preservatives, ingredients that you can't read or understand, and all the extras. A cleaner, simpler life is where it's at.
We can't do it all perfectly. But we can consciously say no to the extra junk ... and make small constant changes in our day to day decisions.
Stay tuned for part 2 - some clean swap ideas.
